AJITH’S COSMOPOLITANISM VERSUS MAOISM!

The merger of Communist Party of India (Maoist) and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Naxalbari on the First of May, 2014 is important news. Does this merger strengthen the PPW in India? Or it conversely weakens it? This is the question to answer!

Officially some Maoist parties have announced their positions in defense of this merger, and have claimed that this process which has been finalized will strengthen the PPW in India.

This will be the case if Indian Maoists move towards upholding and defending Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, and applying the universal truth of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, principally Maoism to the concrete reality of India. This is only possible through upholding, defending and applying Guiding Thought of Chairman Charu Mazumdar. This GT is the creative application of the universal truth of MLM to the concrete reality of India. If Maoists in India “deny” this GT, then, what remains will be cosmopolitanism, not Maoism!

Ajith the leader of the former CPI (ML) Naxalbari is one of the “prominent” figures of a cosmopolitan orientation in Indian context. He strictly denies the legitimacy of the Guiding Thought, and consequently does not reaffirm himself (and his followers) in Chairman Charu Mazumdar’s Guiding Thought. Now, the merger of the two parties also raises the risk of injection of a “boosting” dose of more cosmopolitanism to the Maoist Movement of India. So, it is easily predicted that the cosmopolitanism will have nothing to give in defense of a genuine people’s war.

Why Ajith rejects the Guiding Thought? Because, until now he has not been able to understand what a Guiding Thought is! His misunderstandings lead him to blame Chairman Gonzalo and PCP for upholding Gonzalo Thought. His misunderstandings come from a poor knowledge he has of what Marxism-leninism-Maoism is. So, he has fallen into the trap of cosmopolitanism. From that “spot” he accuses Chairman Gonzalo for what the Chairman has never argued  for. Chairman Gonzalo has never told that his guiding thought is a “leap to a  new  stage” in Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. So, Ajith’s argument is totally wrong. His wrong position makes him to compare the Thought project with that of Prachanda Path. This is also the problem with the Communist (Maoist) party of Afghanistan. This ex-avakianist party has also recently re- compared and paralleled Gonzalo Thought with Prachanda Path, and has argued that: “Gonzalo Thought and Prachanda Path are wrong, and Maoism is correct”!

Let us read Ajith’s position:

“Every creative application of MLM, leading to the successful development of a revolution (that is an application tested through practice), will surely give rise to a deeper grasp and insight of MLM. It will even contribute new concepts or ideas, which will enrich MLM. But it is not necessary (inevitable) that these contributions will represent a new ‘Thought’. It is even less necessary that they will represent a leap to a new stage, i.e., an all-round development of MLM.”

As anyone can elicit from the above text, Ajith draws two conclusions:

1-      It is not necessary (inevitable) that any contributions will represent a new “thought”

2-      It is less necessary that any contributions will represent a leap to a new stage, ie., an all-round development of MLM

Ajith’s understanding is that a Thought or a guiding thought suggests a “new Thought” out of the context of MLM, like an appendage to it. Besides, he thinks that a Guiding Thought will makes it inevitable to go towards a leap to a new stage, and an all-rounding development of MLM

Such “misunderstanding”-if we are allowed to call Ajith’s strict cosmopolitanism and his revisionist intentions as misunderstanding- only shows his misinterpretations of what Chairman Gonzalo has really expressed.

Let us read Chairman Gonzalo’s position and explanations:

Marxism has always taught us that the problem lies in the application of universal truth. Chairman Mao Tsetung was extremely insistent on this point, that if Marxism-Leninism-Maoism is not applied to concrete reality, it is not possible to lead a revolution, not possible to transform the old order, destroy it, or create a new one. It is the application of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism to the Peruvian revolution that has produced Gonzalo Thought. Gonzalo Thought has been forged in the class struggle of our people, mainly the proletariat, in the incessant struggles of the peasantry, and in the larger framework of the world revolution, in the midst of these earthshaking battles, applying as faithfully as possible the universal truths to the concrete conditions of our country. Previously we called it the Guiding Thought. And if today the Party, through its Congress, has sanctioned the term Gonzalo Thought, it’s because a leap has been made in the Guiding Thought through the development of the people’s war. In sum, Gonzalo Thought is none other than the application of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism to our concrete reality. This means that it is principal specifically for our Party, for the people’s war and for the revolution in our country, and I want to emphasize that. But for us, looking at our ideology in universal terms, I emphasize once again, it is Maoism that is principal.

Chairman Gonzalo is completely right!

Marxism has always taught us that the problem lies in the application of universal truth

Ajith is one of those phony “Marxists” that does not understand the difference between universal aspect and its particularity while applying to the concrete reality. Otherwise he would be able to understand that Gonzalo Thought is nothing more than the creative application of the universal truth of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism to the concrete reality of Peru.

Let us again quote Gonzalo, this time on what he exactly means by Gonzalo Thought:

“Gonzalo Thought is none other than the application of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism to our concrete reality. This means that it is principal specifically for our Party, for the people’s war and for the revolution in our country, and I want to emphasize that. But for us, looking at our ideology in universal terms, I emphasize once again, it is Maoism that is principal.”

According to Chairman Gonzalo, as he emphasizes once again thereabove, it is Maoism that is principal. He says that his guiding thought is none other than the application of MLM to Peru’s concrete reality. So, Guiding Thought of revolution, as heart of Maoism, is nothing more than the creative application of the universal truth of MLM to the concrete reality of any countries in the world. All Maoists admit that the universal truth must be creatively applied to the concrete reality of each country. This creative application is called a Guiding Thought. This is the reason why Chairman Gonzalo has taught us that each revolution generates a guiding Thought that leads a people’s war.

The triumph of the PPW in India, like any other country in the world, depends on deepening of the Indian Maoists’ understanding of What a Guiding Thought is, and how they apply it, and how they develop it until communism!
